k so: consider a Sasuke that's still super traumatized by the Massacre but instead of it manifesting as withdrawn anger/hatred he's just withdrawn, like, he doesn't speak to anyone at all. called on in class? refuses to answer and just stares at the teacher, the only real interaction he has is probably with the various pets of his dead family, he has a Responsibility to them now; they've all been left behind like him.

this is super depressing, I know, but consider the comedic possibilities later on when he's a genin and HAS to interact with his teammates, except his only communications for the last 5-6 years have been with a bunch of animals, including, but not limited to: cats, dogs, a hawk summons that was supposed to be a messenger but failed, and some animal that really really should not be a pet (I imagine at least one Uchiha decided to be "unique" in their choice of pets). Naruto's challenges and fights may be seen as friendly-ish to Sasuke because hey, yesterday he got tackled by a dog to play-fight so this must be similar right?

anyways Sasuke is depressed and has very little concept of Proper Human Communication, Naruto also has little experience with social contact, Kakashi is a mess in general, and Sakura is basically the only one with interpersonal skills
